Current textbooks are expensive, and not really great. Creating free textbooks that schools could modify for their own purposes would raise the bar.

Due to the recession, I believe these are being abused by those who just want to get some money to get by , but have not the ability nor the time nor the plans to using the education they may TRY to get under these programs

Many people have lost their jobs and would like to go into teaching. However, they would lose part of their SS due to the government offset on teacher pensions. This law should be repealed immediately and was part of President Obama's election promise.

If the goal of education is producing worthwhile, productive, intelligent citizens, why are we not teaching logic / critical thinking as a core subject along with reading, math, et al?
